Lindsey Caroline Vonn is an American alpine ski racer with the U.S. Ski Team. She has won three consecutive overall World Cup and downhill championships 2008, 2009, 2010, the first American woman and third woman ever to accomplish this. Vonn won the gold medal in downhill at the 2010 Winter Olympics, the first ever in the event for an American woman. Vonn also won three consecutive World Cup season titles in Super G the first American woman to do so, and two consecutive titles in the combined.
Lindsey Vonn took home the Female Athlete of the Year ESPY award. She won over snowboarder Kelly Clark, former UConn basketball player Maya Moore and WNBA star Lauren Jackson. I thought it was going to be an easy win for Maya Moore, who averaged nearly 23 points and was the leader for a team that had reached a 90 game win streak. But the fans spoke, and they chose Lindsey for the award in consecutive years.
Vonn in the overall World Cup standings this year. But enough of us being a buzzkill with such subtleties as actual scores of the World Cup standings. Because if we bring up World Cup standings, we have to mention the fact that weather cut short the end of the season last year with Vonn just three points behind Riesch, and we don't want to mention that though technically speaking, we just did.
In any case, this is not meant to be an airing of grievances, it's supposed to be a celebratory moment for Vonn. Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow and model Brooklyn Decker came out to present the award. During her acceptance speech, Lindsey spotted teen whatever you want to call him Justin Bieber and asked him if they could get a picture together late.
